Darren Cheesman is an ex-England and Great Britain Hockey player who is now a High-Performance Coach.
He was also a member of the Great Britain U21 team that won Silver Medal at the 2007 Junior Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. His personal story is one of having overcome a challenging childhood and youth environment to becoming recognized as one of Britain’s most skilful and exciting players.
Cheesman came into hockey through Arsenal FC’s ‘Sport in the Community’ programme. It is a programme that sees the football club send coaches into local schools and communities to teach them various sports.
He now devotes his time to coaching and developing others to be the best version of themselves. He works with city professionals, community leaders and aspiring sportsmen
and women to overcome their internal barriers, and find their purpose, confidence and courage to succeed.
He is also the owner and lead coach of DC17 Coaching. Combining his experience of being in an elite environment from a very young age and his many achievements in hockey, he runs the ‘PATH TO Excellence’ program which helps coachees with Presence, Ability, Targets, Habits, Time Management and Offering something of excellence to the world.
